Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail is a single, continuous trail that runs the length of
the west coast, stretching all the way from Mexico to Canada. Every summer, this wilderness with
its magnificent vistas, windswept deserts and snowy mountains calls to adventurers from around
the world.
In 2022, I "thru-hiked" the entire trail, starting at the
Canadian border and walking south until I reached the Mexican border. During the four months it
took me, I hiked from dusk to dawn, averaging about 24 miles a day, and taking only six days off.
I got to be completely immersed in the wilderness, waking every sunrise and working tirelessly
towards a single, all-encompassing goal. Hiking the PCT had been a dream of mine for years, and I'm
so happy and grateful that I finally got to make it real.
I built this web page as a journal, a way to record my experiences, thoughts,
and memories while on the trail. If you'd like to learn about my journey, keep reading
this page, and if you're curious about the trail, I recommend visiting the Pacific Crest Trail Association or
Halfway Anywhere websites.
My favorite PCT resources I've encountered so far are this daily blog and this
documentary, both of which beautifully capture the trail experience that I was seeking.
Where have I been?
